

Version 6 is a free upgrade for anyone who purchased Practica Musica during 2011. In the works for several years, version 6 presents a new interface, reorganized activities, and compatibility with the latest computer systems. Practica Musica 6 has finally been released. Previously there had been a number of schools whose security systems were blocking the connection. This improvement means that WebStudents is now able to work with most campus firewalls. Practica Musica 6 now uses secure http to communicate with the WebStudents system for online storage of progress reports.

One is supplied with the program, but anyone who likes to experiment can download different sound fonts online and try them out. As a side benefit, the new driver makes use of a "sound font" as a source for synthesized sounds. This is particularly helpful for Practica Musica, as it allows students to do real-time tapping exercises without extra equipment.

Though Exploring Theory is coordinated with Practica Musica it also works as a standalone music fundamentals textbook.
